This arrangement of The Firebird is not for the faint of heart! Igor Stravinsky’s breakout masterpiece is presented here as a 4:15 arrangement by Jeffrey Edom, a miniature show unto itself! It is aggressive right from the get go and doesn’t relent until about the 2-minute mark following the percussion feature and accelerando. The next section explores the lullaby, richly colored with the pit scored in polyrhythmic layers. Things kick into high gear again with the battery re-entry helping to propel the entire band to the rousing conclusion.

This arrangement requires focus, stamina, and training for the winds and percussion, and is abounding with challenges for all of the musicians. We love this piece and we hope you do too!
